child cancer care

Sophie’s Appeal was started in 2003 by Lin and Mike Barringer with some close friends following the diagnosis of their daughter Sophie with Wilm’s Disease.

This cancer of the kidney claimed the life of Sophie in December 2004 at the age of six.

Aims

The aims are today as they were then; to raise funds to support the social, emotional and educational welfare of sick children and their families or carers whilst being treated either in hospital or the community.

Sophie’s Appeal became the fundraising arm of The Sophie Barringer Trust in September 2005 when the trust was granted charity status.
